Therapy with Children & Parents
Young children are sensitive to stress in their environment, which could impact their moods and behaviors. Stressful experiences in the family can also affect the mood, emotional regulation, and functioning of adults around children. I believe that you are central to your child’s development and my main goal is to understand your family's experiences and help you support your child while strengthening the parent-child relationship.
My work with children centers around therapeutic activities that encourages feeling expression and emotion regulation. Therapy sessions are active and playful. Toys, games, and art materials are utilized to encourage children to ask questions, create stories, and making meanings from their experiences.
My clients have seen results in:
Improvement in moods and behaviors
Gaining a larger vocabulary and ways to talk about their feelings and frustrations
Learning a variety of ways to relate to others (with siblings and peers)
Developing greater tolerance for frustration, transitions, and stress.
Practicing safety habits (safety in playground and positive conflict resolution)
Child and parent(s) can talk and play about difficult experiences
Child and parent(s) create a family story that leads to healing
Child and parent(s) can co-regulate, feel safe together, and enjoy spending time together
